Nota d'usoL'aggettivo economic significa “economico” nei contesti inerenti all'economia, come nell'espressione changes in government economic policy, cambiamenti nella politica economica del governo, e in relazione ad un'attività redditizia: ad esempio, la locuzione at an economic price, indica un prezzo di mercato da cui il venditore ricava un profitto. Per indicare, invece, qualcosa che fa risparmiare perché particolarmente efficiente si usa l'aggettivo economical: What is the most economical car?, qual è l'auto più economica? Allo stesso modo, economical fa anche riferimento al concetto di parsimonia: tips for economical management, suggerimenti per fare economia. Infine, l'aggettivo cheap corrisponde a “economico” nel senso di “poco costoso”: This restaurant is very cheap, questo ristorante è molto economico.
